Duality Solutions to leverage Blocknet infrastructure for NoID, a health data BaaS

9 June 2017 – At this early stage in the evolution of the token ecosystem, it’s the far-sighted who stand to gain the most from the wide open field of opportunities before us.

For this reason, we’re very excited about Duality Solutions, whose visionary dual-blockchain design will utilise the Blocknet to make its services available to dapps and smart contracts on Ethereum and other chains.

Their solution comprises two aspects: core currency technology, and its application in NoID (and potentially many other services to come). Its complexity will not allow us to do justice to it here, but detailed documentation is available here.


Dynamic and Sequence

The core currency tech involves two blockchains, Dynamic and Sequence, which function together to abstract price from liquidity. This has the effects of producing, on the one hand, a stable representation of investment in Duality, and on the other hand, a liquid token for the consumption of services.

This currency technology is then put to the purposes of delivering health data securely and in a manner that preserves its customers’ privacy and is easily consumable by healthcare institutions.

On the consumer side is Sequence, a proof-of-stake blockchain with the novel addition of licensed Seqnodes, a “permissioned blockchain” feature on an otherwise public blockchain, by which Duality Solutions maintains business relationships with its customers.

Then on the service-provision side, the health data itself is maintained in a hashed form meaningless outside of the Duality paradigm by a network of Dynodes, modelled on Dash’s masternodes and with an analogous incentivisation scheme. The two blockchains interoperate in order to deliver the NoID healthcare service to Duality’s customers.


Tokenised inter-chain services

NoID stands to gain at least three fundamental advantages in becoming interoperable. Firstly, it becomes possible, over the Blocknet, to deliver its services to dapps on different blockchains, so that its consumers need not be centralized, traditional entities, but can additionally be any other dapp providing a related service. This grows Duality’s potential user base many times over.

Secondly, in becoming interoperable, Duality gains the ability to exploit any service at all, from any smart contract on Ethereum or elsewhere. This empowers Duality both to grow NoID and to orchestrate its unique dual-chain design to deliver further applications.

Thirdly, since Dynamic (DYN) is stable in value, it outperforms Ether and Bitcoin in any situation where volatility is a risk. As such, users of any smart contract, dapp, or protocol service have it in their interest to store value in DYN and to consume it in ETH or wherever else it may be put to use.


The future of the internet

Duality’s architecture, consisting of tokenised microservices interoperable with potentially any other blockchain, is what the future of the internet holds. The current API ecosystem is generally barred from monetizing, due to high friction both in terms of cost and the complexity of third-party integration. This renders the majority of APIs free, removing the profit-incentive to make them public and to provide an excellent service. In contrast, services delivered over blockchains are intrinsically monetised, making them comparatively frictionless and enabling service-fees to potentially be in fractions of a cent. As such, the advent of inter-chain interoperability, in the form of the Blocknet, ushers in a “token ecosystem” poised to surpass the API ecosystem on every front.
